PAT Testing Across Pat Testing across involves carrying out lots of different electrical tests and checks on appliances to make sure that they are completely safe to use for your staff or visitors.
How Often Do You Need PAT Testing? The time between a PAT Test depends on the type of electrical appliance, where the appliance is mainly used and how the appliance is actually made. Let's use an office PC as an example, this type of equipment is required to have an inspection every 2 years and a full test every 5 years, but if there is an extension lead plug being used, this would require a test every 12 months. This is because an extension lead is more likely to be moved and handled more, which in turn increases the chance of developing some kind of electrical fault.
Every site will require a full risk assessment to be carried out on any electrical equipment that is being used, this is to determine how often the appliances need to be inspected or tested.
